Marta Teixeira, IAT, BN (Hons), RN (Adult), PGCert, MSc
Marta is a Certified Trichologist (specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of hair and scalp conditions) and Dermatology Specialist Nurse in the NHS who is currently studying for an MSc in Clinical Dermatology. She has successfully completed the Fundamentals of Hair Science and Hair Claims course by TRI Princeton, a leading global centre for hair and cosmetic science research, as well as the Independent Prescribing Postgraduate course, making her the first Non-Medical Prescribing Trichologist in the UK, meaning she is able to prescribe medication. Marta has also provided consulting services as a hair care expert for different UK haircare brands. She also has a Postgraduate Certificate Anaesthetic Course and an Adult and Paediatric Immediate Life Support Course.
Marta was appointed as a Hair Expert for the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) for the Department for Education in London as a member of the Route Panel for Hair and Beauty, where she is responsible for providing expert recommendations on the technical and scientific content of hair education courses and standards. Marta is also a Band 7 Dermatology Specialist Nurse in the NHS where she provides dermatology consultations to patients. She has also been recently appointed for the board of the Trichology Standards Authority (TSA) in order to help improve the standards of Trichological education in the UK. She has written a few clinical review articles on hair science, published in the Dermatology Nursing Journal, and is a member of different organisations such as the European Hair Research Society, British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery, British Dermatological Nursing Group, International Association of Trichologists and many others.
Marta also serves as a medical reviewer, specialising in hair science and trichology-related dermatology articles. In this role, she is responsible for meticulously assessing and analysing scientific literature concerning the latest advancements in these areas. Marta is passionate about hair and scalp science, big enthusiast for natural hair, thrilled to base her knowledge with detail, accuracy and scientific research. This was her main motivation set up CliniHair in Hampshire.
Marta is also a Member of the Board of Advisors of a platform called Grand Rounds for discussing treatments, protocols and hair loss cases that aims to increase collaboration between hair loss practitioners and discuss diagnostic and treatment protocols to promote good practice and collegiality in clinical settings in the UK.
Additionally, she also works as an online hair educator in Portugal, explaining hair science mainly via Instagram posts, with frequent one-to-one online hair consultations, haircare education courses, media quotes and public speaking.
As an experienced and intellectually alert Trichologist and Dermatology Specialist Nurse, Marta has developed a comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based hair and scalp science, and experience of assessing, initiating and coordinating patient care on a daily basis. She is passionate about improving the standards of Trichological education and is committed to promote the professional development as well as protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of the public.
