What is Trichology?

CliniHair

Trichology, derived from the Greek words “trichos” (hair) and “ology” (the study of), is the scientific discipline that focuses on understanding the structure, function, and diseases of human hair and scalp. In clinical practice, trichology involves the diagnosis and treatment of various hair and scalp conditions.

As an NHS Dermatology Specialist Registered Nurse and Certified Trichologist, I specialise in addressing hair and scalp issues, offering personalised treatment plans based on the latest scientific evidence. In the UK, Trichologists are not regulated. However, with me, patients can be assured that I am also a nurse, ensuring a professional approach focused on their well-being rather than sales.

Treating hair loss and scalp conditions starts with an accurate diagnosis and needs an expert understanding to treat them appropriately, based on the last scientific evidence. As a Registered Nurse and Certified Trichologist, I have the competencies and the knowledge, not only to help you reach your goals, but also to provide a bespoke treatment for your diagnosis.

What does a Trichologist do?

trichology A Trichologist is a hair and scalp specialist that helps people with issues such as hair loss, hair breakage, oily scalp, scalp psoriasis and other diseases. This means a Trichologist is a hair specialist helping you to find the right diagnosis and treatment.
